Denine and I have had a great week on vacation and officially celebrating our 25 years of marriage. We had neat experiences on St. Lucia including driving crazy winding mountain roads on the left side in our micro car, eating Caribbean barbecued chicken at an open air joint with locals, and other stuff we stumbled on while exploring. Denine wanted to drink milk right from the coconut and that happened when a local fruit boat drove up to our beach yesterday. I've been toying with learning to sail so I took a lesson and got out twice to sail a little Hobie catamaran around the bay.
But the best part was just having lots of time to hang out with Denine. We laughed a lot. We talked about the blessings of the last 25 years and about our dreams of the future together. We had time to discuss ministry and what we believe God is saying to us now. We prayed for our children, friends, family and other people who have intersected our life.
Last night over a terrific waterside dinner Denine said she would love to have a few more days instead of returning tomorrow. I agree, but our time on this trip will be over soon. It's OK. We did not just see stuff. We leave refreshed, more committed to our marriage, and ready for what is next. I think that is a pretty good description of a great vacation.
