Shenzhen is in China not far from Hong Kong. 20 years ago it was a small fishing village. Now it is a city of seven million people and will soon pass Hong Kong in population. It is a modern industrial and manufacturing center that pulls young people out of rural China to fill jobs. My friends Ben and Ada Choi and I had dinner in a revolving place at the top of a hotel. Afterwards we strolled through a upscale mall where people were snapping up Polo, Chanel, Calvin and Tommy.
