Denine and I watched the original Law & Order series on Wednesday nights for a long time. My favorite part was Denine's reaction when Jerry Orbach (as Detective Lennie Briscoe) made a smart-aleck comment during the opening sequence. The same thing happened almost every week. Jerry would wise crack, Denine would shout or moan, and I would laugh. We were both sorry to hear of Jerry Orbach's passing this week.

Ziegler Family Christmas
The Ziegler Family has been rotating Christmas gatherings the past few years and this year we are hosting at our house. A long standing tradition is a time of sharing before opening gifts. Typically there is music, song, readings, and more. So far no dancing of jigs.....

A Surprise on Christmas Day
About 2:30 pm on Christmas day the kids answered a knock at the door. A gentleman that they did not recognize had a delivery of purple and white flowers in a vase. The vehicle was a plain Ford Aerostar van and there was not any name of a florist on the van or on the attached card. There was a card that was addressed to Denine and Allen Ziegler with Christmas greetings, but there was no signature. Was the gift from you? Was it a Christmas Angel? We don't know!
Christmas Eve
Each year CBS broadcasting televises a Christmas Eve service from 11:30 to 12:30 featuring a different denomination. This year was the Church of the Brethren and it was recorded at the seminary where our brother in-law, Dan teaches in Richmond, Indiana. Our nephew, Jonathan was chosen to be one of the readers and he did a fantastic job. Way to go, Jonathan!
Aunt Bethany??
We were watch the moving "Christmas Vacation" and our Bethany pointed out that Aunt Bethany in the movie not only shares the same first name, but they both also crochet! Hmmmm....

Early Christmas in Pittsburgh
So we went out to Pittsburgh for the weekend to celebrate Christmas with Denine's family and pick Jordan up from college. We had a great time, we ate too much, and we saw a bunch of family members. Tim really liked his chest waders and the Steelers won on Saturday. What more could we want? It snowed most of the day Sunday and the temperature dropped down to 1 degree on Monday morning when we left town.
PS: And Denine's mom, Diane, made stuffed olives and stuffed grape leaves. Two of the best foods ever!

Oh Christmas Tree!
This weekend we had our traditional cutting of the Christmas tree and decorating thing going on. I am happy to report that we agreed on a tree and fully decorated it without any injured bodies or feelings! It even went into the tree stand and stood straight without any loss of hair! Then we picked a new location in the house and it worked out. This is going to be a great Christmas!!

Man Night!
Yea...we had Man Night!! A quick dinner at the Fairgrounds Farmer's Market (some guys were living large with Jambalaya J), then Chris hooked us up with the Pepsi Box at the Reading Royals hockey game. Afterwards we moved on to The Works and wrapped up the evening. Lots of laughs and a good times.....
