Off to Cozumel

Denine and I had a blast today.  We took the ferry (Mexican Waterjets) over to Cozumel.  We had lunch while we got our bearings and then headed out over the island on a motor scooter.  We spent most of the afternoon at Corona Beach where we rented snorkeling gear and paddled around.  The facility is free, but they rely on the folks that come by to snorkel to buy food and drinks to keep the place in business.  The place looks so old that it kind of looks like it was always there. 

Mid-after noon we were drying off in the breeze and having nachos.  I was feeling a bit sentimental thinking about all the wonderful places I've seen and more importantly, all of amazing people I have met along the way.  Life is good!

The girls made friends everywhere when when in Playa Del Carmen.  This fella was much less talkative than the merchants out in front of their shops.

This and a bullhorn

I saw these guys outside the racetrack at Daytona Speedway this past Sunday.  There was a barker with a bullhorn and "Jesus Saves" t-shirt close by these guys.  This approach does not speak well for Christians and it makes us all look bad.  Didn't Jesus spend most of his time just hanging out with people and speaking to them with love and respect?  I want to spend my time trying to just love people.  I appreciate wanting to get the word out, but I can't see this as the way to do it.  I hesitate to tear other belivers down but this just makes things even harder for Christians and pre-Christians.  Rob Bell has some interesting things to say about this in his "Bullhorn" video from Nooma.  Oh boy, am I wrong?

Inside Daytona

Dave G. and I had a great weekend at Daytona talking to security, NASCAR, merchandising, and promotional folks about providing lanyards, ticket holders, and credentials.  The entire event is just too big to describe.  This photo is on the actual track shortly before the start of the race.  I'll stick a few interesting photos in a photo album soon.

I saw these job johnnies at Daytona Speedway today.  Is this funny or has advertising hit a new low?  Or is it both?  And what about the message?  Yes, we all want to hurry when the lines are long, but isn't this just a little too much pressure?  Sigh...interesting....

Feb 12

Thanks to all of you friends and family who e-mailed, called, sent cards, and gave gifts for my birthday yesterday.  I can not believe how many of you remember my date.  It really was a swell day!  We had a perfect finish at home with a favorite pasta dish at dinner with Denine, Jordan, and Beth.  I am a blessed man with great friends and family!

IRIS goes to the Super Bowl

The crew at the office always enjoys seeing our ID cards and lanyards out in the public eye.  The Super Bowl is especially cool since we get to see our product on TV, in the newspapers, and in magazines.
