You may have noticed that I usually run a little survey on this blog. This last one was not very well designed on my part. I left it multiple choice which made the percentage of votes look all funky. This new one is a bit simpler.
Political leanings can mean different things to different people. To some is means things like elite or populist, country or city, rich or poor, left or right, pro life or pro choice, saint or sinner. Maybe you lean one way because of your upbringing or cultural background. This poll is not about wrong vs. right. I'm not going quite that deep. It's just a little poll. Go head...have a little fun. Enjoy.

I've been reading a book called "They like Jesus but not the church" by Dan Kimball. The basic premise is that many people are leery of the hypocrisy and judgmentalism in The Church (the universal church meaning everyone who attends a church), but they are interested in Jesus the man and may be interested in discussing Jesus in places outside of a church building. I find this to be an accurate assessment. Denine and I found lots of folks interested in talking about Jesus when we started a bar ministry and I find the same when I am out and about or traveling.
Paul filled in for our ailing pastor on Sunday and was talking about when Jesus spoke to the multitudes. He mentioned (and illustrated) that many people visualize the Sunday School flannelgraphs of Jesus speaking to about a dozen people when we hear about him speaking to the multitudes, but it was more like what you would find at a big concert (like Bonnaroo!). That got me to thinking. What do people think of when they think of Jesus?
Is it flannelgraph Jesus?
Is it roadside Jesus?
Is it Catholic Jesus still on the cross?
Is it Jesus is My Homeboy?
Is it bobble head Jesus?
How about black bobble head Jesus (kinda a two for one deal)?!
Is it billboard Jesus?
Is it Last Supper Jesus? I don't remember any homes without one of these when I was a kid.
Here's the thing. I'm not saying anything is bad with any of the stuff above. In fact, I like most of it. It's cool that so many people are thinking about Jesus and who he was and is. Wouldn't it be nice if we all just apologized for the damage us Christ-followers have caused and we helped more people really find Jesus? Something to think about.....

I told Big Dawg Tom that I bought this Corvette Boat at the Upstate Boat Show yesterday. Then I told him I actually bought a Cobalt. Actually, we did not buy a boat, but we had a nice time looking and dreaming!

We are doing new computer mouse pads at work to give to customers with their new photo ID systems. I had to laugh when Travis said:
Got the care package with the Mousepads. Digispec does nice work.
I think we should go with something funny shaped, like round.
...which reminds me of my favorite scene from Raising Arizona
Evelle: (shaking a pack of balloons) "Do these blow up in funny shapes?"
Grocer: "Nope. Not unless round's funny."
:)

PS: Bonus! Round pads could work as giant coasters for really big drinks! Folks hate those
Super Big Gulp stains on their work areas....

This news flash from our old home state of Pennsylvania: The "Official Butter Sculpture" from the Pennsylvania Farm Show will be converted to biofuel after the show. I understand that folks outside of PA do not understand that the annual farm show is as the "big thing" in PA in January and I did not even know how big a deal the butter sculpture has become to regular attendees. This leads to several thoughts as follows:
Sigh....better get back to more useful thoughts...
